Technique & Innovation

All Nordost cables share a common design theme.
That design is solid core conductors. Depending on the application, either flat rectangular solid oxygen free copper conductors, or fine micro-litz round conductors, strand interaction is eliminated. This significantly reduces the well documented audible distortions caused by skin effect and magnetic field interactions. This is done by using an extremely precise extrusion of FEP and a very precise conductor spacing which keeps capacitance and inductance extremely low. In addition, the use of Nordost’s proprietary Micro Mono-Filament technology increases signal bandwidth in their video cable and reference cable range. This in turn results in cables which typically transmit signals at over 90% the speed of light. This is 20 to 25% faster than conventional cables resulting in a tremendous improvement in musical accuracy and clarity.

Craftsmanship and Sonic Integration

All Nordost cables are hand built at their factory in Massachusetts, USA. All speaker cables are terminated with Nordost Z plugs using a proprietary formula of high grade silver solder. Although Nordost loudspeaker cables are also available terminated with spade connectors, they highly recommend the use of their low mass Nordost 4mm banana Z plugs where possible. These light weight, tight fitting banana plugs are made with gold plated Beryllium copper. This low mass design preserves the low capacitance and inductance of the speaker cable at the termination point.

All Nordost cables are tested before they leave the factory and carry a limited lifetime warranty.

Installation & Durability

Because all Nordost cables are made with extruded FEP they are extremely durable. They can withstand huge extremes of temperature, are impervious to water and chemicals, and will not split apart or delaminate.

All Nordost speaker cables, such as 2 Flat, 4 Flat, Flatline Gold Mk II and Super Flatline Mk II are thinner than a credit card. They can be folded to fit around corners when surface mounting or run under carpets in "high traffic" areas. You can even install them by making an incision in the wall with a utility knife, then slide Flatline in sideways and spackle or fill in with joint compound and then paint or wallpaper over it. Because the resistance drop of Flatline Cable is so low, long runs are no problem. Flatline Cable has been used in many professional installations worldwide such as night clubs, discos, houses of worship and recording studios where high performance is crucial.
